How might books from the late 1800s/early 1900s about trees, labor issues, sex ed, trailer culture and mind control translate into radio? Come find out next Wednesday, September 10, at the Third Coast Festival Listening Room, where results of the Radio Ephemera public audio challenge will be revealed. A collaboration with the one-of-a-kind Prelinger Library in San Francisco, Radio Ephemera invited any/everyone to produce and submit short audio stories inspired by printed ephemera - namely the five books mentioned above. The results were stunning - 82 submissions arrived from all over the world - and we’ll share some of our favorites, including a few produced by Chicagolanders, at the Listening Room. Besides that, Vocalo.org’s Brian Babylon (who’s threatening to wear a flight suit) will be serving up some ephemeral performance and we have a few other surprises planned. It’ll be ephemeral hoopla!
